Zionsville – Great Places to Live

Hogan Moving |

Hogan Moving has been a part of the Indianapolis community since 1927. As a proud Indianapolis company, we’ve decided to start a blog series highlighting some of the great places to live in the area. For this blog, we’re highlighting a nearby suburb of Indianapolis: Zionsville.

Zionsville is a suburban town located in the southeast area of Boone County, Indiana, just northwest of Indianapolis. It was laid out in 1852 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named for William Zion, a pioneer settler. Zionsville promotes itself as a tourist attraction, centered on its village-style downtown area. This area consists primarily of Main Street, paved entirely in brick, which is lined with small retail stores and restaurants.

Zionsville Hotspots:

Fanimation Antique Fan Museum

Tom Frampton, an avid antique fan collector, joined the Antique Fan Collectors Association (AFCA) some years ago. The AFCA has operated a museum since 1997, displaying fans on loan by the members of the Association; this museum was hosted by Vornado Fan Co. in Wichita, Kansas. When they needed to relocate, Fanimation offered to house it at its facility here in Zionsville. The move and set-up took nearly a year, but the new museum opened on July 23, 2009. It houses some 2000 antique fans some dating to the early 1880s. Tom’s own unique collection of fans is also now part of the museum collection, as well as hundreds of antique advertising-style hand fans and other memorabilia.
