4 of the most epic sports moves throughout history
Moving is oftentimes a life changing experience. But an individual relocating to a new state or country isn’t the only thing that can have some real impact. Here are a few of the most major moves of institutions in history.
The Dodgers
Back in 1957 something really major happened, the Dodgers left not just Brooklyn, but the whole state of New York. The Major League Baseball team took up residence in Los Angles, California. This unfathomable move is still talked about to this day from die-hard, lifelong New Yorkers.
The Lakers
Does anyone remember when the Lakers weren’t in Los Angeles? Yeah, us either. It was in 1960 that the great trip was made from the Midwest to the west coast. Since then the Lakers have seen some amazing successes while winning numerous championships!
The Colts
This year was 1984 and it was a snowy, cold night. The Baltimore Colts packed up in the middle of the night by Mayflower (also us) and transported the entirety of their team to Indianapolis, Indiana. Since that fateful night the Colts have remained in the Circle City to this very moment.
The Coyotes
For a recent move we look to the NHL. In 1996 the Winnipeg Jets uprooted and soon became the Phoenix Coyotes. However, you won’t find them under that exact name today. It was right before the 2014-2015 season that they again changed their name to the Arizona Coyotes.
